Portraits

As I sat under the rotating heat lamp at my hairdresser's this morning (it's now an obsession to get this pink hair as bright as possible) and I stumbled across Ginou Choueiri's work in my Juxtapoz. Ginou is a Lebanese artist currently living in Beruit who creates portraits on potatoes! So far she has made over 1000 portraits of real people, from celebrities to family and friends. The idea is that like people, potatoes will shrivel, rot , and decay just like us when we age.

And speaking of portraits, my dad has recently been Tivo-ing 'Star Portraits' for us to watch together. I would have no idea what this is if it wasn't for him (I don't have cable) so when I go over to my parents house lately my dad and I will sit and watch the episodes together. As my dad describes it, the show is similar to a 'So You Think You Can Dance' but more under the radar and Canadian. I couldn't find an actual show but here's a little blurb on the series.

The first episode actually features Colin Mocharie as the model. I thought I'd share a 'Whose Line is it Anyway' skit because it was an awesome show - Enjoy!

  1. I found your blog on Freckled Nest! Me and my husband have been watching Whose Line skits on youtube lately. We loved that show!

Also I am going to try that scowl pattern sometime! It looks really easy and since I can't knit very well it would be a good place for me to start!

  2. Art on potatoes what an wonderful idea. It reminds me the potatoes heads we were creating when we were kids.
