1. This necklace from Dreamer76. I've been seeing a lot of these zipper necklaces around lately and I like the trend...
2. Coffee. Which I am out of this morning and I couldn't be more unimpressed with myself for not stocking up. My ultimate fave is Ideal but it isn't available in Winnipeg, it's in Kensington Market in Toronto... So second to that is Kicking Horse.
3. Crocheting. I haven't tackled something as complex as this but soon!
4. Marvelous Marianne's Savvy Soap Hand and Brush Cleaner. I don't know what would happen if I didn't have this. Actually I do - I would have to be buying new paintbrushes all the time because my bristles would be big globs of hard paint. This stuff rules and works wonders for acrylic AND oil...
5. Horoscopes. I am a pisces and I secretly read mine all the time. It's a habit I got into when I was little and I'd like to think what they're telling me aren't vague generalizations. Darrin thinks it's ridiculous but that's because he's a capricorn...
6. Tarot. I need my next reading asap.
7. Kale. If you haven't heard of it it's a bitter green in the cabbage family. It's amazing and I eat it all the time - often boiled in a huge bowl with lemon juice and s&p. I read somewhere that a pound of kale is equivalent to a pound of beef protein wise but I can't confirm this is from a credible source. Bottom line - it's good for you.
8. Vespas. One day I will own one and I will ride around with my groceries and cute helmet. They are incredibly impractical for Winnipeg since our winters last from October - May but I'm still jealous of the few people that I see cruising around on one.
9. Dexter. Michael C. Hall was awesome in Six Feet Under and even better in Dexter. My brother hates shows like this and doesn't understand how I can watch that kind of gore. What can I say - his character's so likable - I can't get enough.
10. LUSH Blue Skies & Fluffy White Clouds Bubble Bar. Makes the best patchouli filled bubble bath ever.
ohh! i agree, those zipper necklaces are CUTE! fun post Gill :)
ReplyDeleteWow, the zipper necklace looks great! Never saw anything like this..now I'm glad I could see it here :)
ReplyDeleteLove the products LUSH has! Especially the Snow Fairy scent. :)

I like your teaste though I'm more tea than coffee. more big love than dexter and anythink lemon or gradefruit fromlush is divine. From LAs blog. Thanks! Brianne Sheppard
ReplyDeleteYes coffee, must have coffee! Hello, I came over from Freckled Nest to visit! I just want to say thanks for the scowl tutorial, I am a new knitter and that looks like something that I could make pretty easy, but it looks so professional! I love the post below, those potatoes are cute and I loved the show "Who's Line is it Anyway?" I would watch it all of the time, I wish it was still on! Well, thanks for letting me visit, have a wonderful week!

ReplyDeleteI LOVE Dexter! and i just started watching Six Feet Under last night for the first time and it's great! it's so weird to watch MCH in SFU vs Dex.
ReplyDeletelove him either way!
here via freckled nest :)
Crochet, Dexter and Lush! all in one post :D
ReplyDeleteCame from Freckled Nest :D
I thank you for this post. I never knew they were making zippered necklaces. I must own one or at least try to make one. As for Dexter, he is too likable and that is what scares me the most about it. <3
ReplyDeleteWoah! Thanks for all the props ladies! I love feedback, suggestions and encouragement so keep sharing :)
ReplyDeleteTo Meg - glad you're excited to try the pattern! I always suggest it to the new knitter at the knit night I host!
To the Michael C. Hall lovers - Nice taste in television :) For some reason I watched the entire second season first and am now watching the first - even though I already know what happens its interesting to see the lead up to the ice truck killer....
Love the blog!! Im Amanda... here from fRECKLED nest! Your blog is totally inspiring and P.S. I love your hair!!

Oh Dexter, I thi nk you may be my new friend with all the same stuff you and I both love! xoxo
ReplyDeleteOk I'm totally stoked to try your knotting pattern. I'm still really learning as I go, but I think this will be really fun. Plus I have some super buttons and yarn to try on this.
ReplyDeleteI have a giant container full of zippers that I'm collecting; I just can't decide what I want to make with them yet.
I'm a Pisces too :)
Thanks again for the Knitting lesson.
If I lived closer I would totally come to a stitch and Bitch ;)

Hello! I just found you through Freckles Nest and your blog is lovely/inspiring! :)
ReplyDeleteThose crochet spiderwebs are to die for, Lush bubbles are the bestest in the whole world!! (I like their Christmas ones the best!), and I'm a Capricorn, too, addicted to astrology - though my inner voice says 'horoscopes are such generalizations', I still love and like to believe them anyway. :) lol...
Happy day!
i love your blog! so cute and creative!
ReplyDeleteGreat List!!! I lov ethe zipper necklaces too :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Gillian!
ReplyDeleteThe earrings for the giveaway are lovely and you're pink-red hair colour is awesome.
How do you actually organize a knit night?
If you want I can share a cat sweater knitting tutorial.
Hugs!
Hi there. I found you through Freckled Nest. I LOVE those Vespas! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteFound you through FN's blog. I love the earrings you are giving away on her blog...I have never see knitted earrings! I think I have to have a pair!
ReplyDeleteLove your list of wonderful shares. I came over from LA's. I love your how to scowl tut. I like to make them but worry they look like I'm wearing a neck brace!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the fun.
stopping by from Freckled Nest. I just love vespa's as well. There's a little vespa club where I live and I see them all the time riding around together. It's soooo cute. Instead of a big motorcycle gang it's all these guys on little ol' vespas. hahaha.
ReplyDeletei dig lots of the same things you dig. :) found you via LA!
ReplyDelete-sarah r.
Dude. Coffee and Vespas are two of my favorite things in the world! :D
ReplyDeleteI love that necklace :)
ReplyDeleteI'm just stopping by from Freckled Nest. Love your blog and can't wait to start following you!
So much to respond to!
ReplyDeletemichelle - maybe my bf is just more of a stubborn/logical capricorn than you :)
oana - I've had my stitch and bitch going since the fall now and originally started it because i had friends interested in learning how to knit and i wanted to have knitting buddies - so i used facebook to let my friends know i was having these weekly gatherings and to bring yarn and matching needles and it's now spiralled into 10-15 different girls popping by weekly! at this rate we may have to move to a different location! but that is what i would suggest if youre wanting to start a group - or if you live in a city that has knitting cafe's there are often groups of knitters there that you could team up with! i would also loooove your cat sweater pattern! feel free to post a link to it in the comments or email it to me! a.gillian.king@gmail.com
Holly - thank you! if you're interested in the knitted earrings I sell them through Studio Lune who have an online shop! www.studiolune.com There are more styles and colours there along with work from other awesome Winnipeg crafters!
Mim Smith Faro - if you are worried about it looking like a neckbrace you can always just make it larger so its more floppy - possibly casting on 30 stitches to start and doing more than 62 rows so it can fold and flop over? It's a very easy pattern to play around with!
Amanada - that vespa club sounds killer... one day.... :)
Thanks again guys!
Hi there! I also love coffee, crochet, and Lush products. I am here from the Freckled Nest blog. I'm enjoying your blog!
ReplyDeleteHi Gillian, I came here from Freckled Nest and dig your blog. Ditto on the Vespa. I would love to have one but we get like two or three months of rideable weather here in Northern BC so I just admire those who have them! Your artwork is awesome. PS When you make your own tea can you tell us how to as well? I never really thought about making some, I buy mine at the supermarket but I'd love to do it on my own. Thanks for the inspiring read.
ReplyDeletehaha that's so true about coffee. and i love kicking horse!
ReplyDeleteAND i loooove dexter! (but 6 feet under is/was my number one fave show of all time)
