So.... BIG NEWS! I've been hesitant to mention this until now in case something doesn't work out and then its out there in blogland and I'm all disappointed.... but I'm getting a studio tomorrow! It's in the exchange and so far I am sharing with my friend Kara Passey and we're still waiting to hear who our remaining three studiomates are. I've been so excited about it and I can't believe its actually happening. When I first started art school all I would dream about was having my own thesis space - then as thesis grew closer (this fall) it progressed to having my own studio in the exchange (tomorrow!!) and once those are in full swing I will start dreaming about grad schools! Who knew the exchange studio would come before the thesis studio but I guess that's how things go - my whole fine arts stint has been a mish-mash of me not knowing what year I'm in because of my backwards way of doing things... The space is big with lots of natural light, free wireless, free desks and a fridge! I can't wait to sit down with a fresh beer, gaze out the windows and get painting! I'll take photos once we're moved in :)
This is Kara and her bf Danny - he's starting art school this year! Woo!
Another exciting thing - I finally bought a new bike basket and 'bell' (it's actually a children's bell that squeaks like a dog toy but I thought it was fun) Check it out...
And I keep staring at the new goodies by a few of my favourite designers and think it's time to share...
Tony Chestnut! A Winnipeg lady whose name is also Jill! (with a 'J') Whenever Jill releases a new line of clothing I find myself wanting everything - I really dig the school boy look she has going on. If you're local she's also great for custom orders - she made my winter jacket for me this year...
And Brooke of Peeko Apparel is based in Calgary - her stuff is so fun to wear - Kaja often scopes out her goods for me at Calgary craft sales and like a good bff mails them back for me :)
And Angie from Norwegian Wood! Angie used to be my babysitter when I was little and now is in Montreal running Headquarters Galerie Boutique and her booming clothing line :) I can't get enough of her new spring collection of mismatched prints - so great
Another thing I've decided I want to try is fire dancing. Winnipeg has a handful of fire dancing groups so I think that's where I'll start. Does anyone have any tips other than try not to light yourself on fire?
this post is making me pine for some new duds!! LOVE,LOVE,LOVE.
